HK inaugurates shopping festival to boost local SMEs in Mainland China
Over 230 local brands are participating in the event.
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) launched the inaugural Hong Kong Shopping Festival on 24 July.
The month-long event, which will run from 1 August to 31, aims to help Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) expand into Mainland China through various e-commerce platforms, in line with measures outlined in the 2023 Policy Address.
The festival's launch ceremony marked the participation of over 230 local brands. These brands are offering unique products and exclusive discounts across six major categories, including apparel and accessories, personal care and cosmetics, home and living, classic food, smart gadgets, and health supplements. The event also highlights products suitable for senior citizens.
Under the slogan "Unveiling a New Lifestyle, Curated by Hong Kong," the festival aspires to introduce new products and enrich consumers' lives whilst showcasing meticulously selected quality products from Hong Kong.
The initiative also enables local SMEs to leverage the extensive visitor traffic and diverse customer base of mainland e-commerce platforms, enhancing publicity, exposure, and promotional impact. Additionally, it offers SMEs practical experience in navigating the mainland market via e-commerce.
“As the Hong Kong Trade Development Council organises the first edition of the Hong Kong Shopping Festival, we could, on the one hand, capitalise on Hong Kong’s advantage of enjoying strong support of the Motherland’s large-scale market, and assist Hong Kong’s small to medium enterprises in reaching new mainland customer groups and developing the mainland market, thereby injecting new impetus into their business development,” said Financial Secretary Paul Chan.
