World’s first all-electric race car series will run in Hong Kong
FIA Formula E Championship starts 2014.
Hong Kong will host the third leg of a 10-race series for the new all-electric Formula E race car competition. The International Automobile Federation or FIA has confirmed Hong Kong as a venue for the new Formula E electric racing series that will begin in Beijing on September 20, 2014.
FIA has released a 10-race provisional calendar for 2014-15 showing Hong Kong as the third leg on November 8. The race is expected to be run on the streets of Central.
Lawrence Yu Kam-kee, president of the Hong Kong Automobile Association, said they are delighted to announce that world-class motor-racing will come to Hong Kong for the first time.
Formula E Holdings is the promoter of the FIA Formula E Championship. The maiden season of the new series will run from September 2014 to June 2015.
Beijing will host the world's first fully-electric car race while London will stage the season finale on June 27, 2015.
Formula E is a class of auto racing sanctioned by FIA. It is intended to be the highest class of competition for one-make, single-seat, electrically-powered racing cars.
