Mercedes-Benz remains the best-selling European car brand in Hong Kong
Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Limited proudly announced that in 2015 a total of 7,652 units (6,179 units in Hong Kong and 1,473 units in Macau) of MercedesBenz
Cars were delivered in Hong Kong and Macau. The premium brand has thus stayed the clear leader in the premium segment in Hong Kong and it is still the overall best-selling brand in the Macau market. At the same time, globally, Mercedes-Benz delivered more cars to customers in 2015 than ever before.
The premium brand sold a total of 1,871,511 vehicles (+13.4%) worldwide, posting its fifth record year in a row. Andreas Binder, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Limited, stated, “We are very proud to be the leader in the luxury market in both Hong Kong and Macau. This is a result of hard work and great products and services. And with the opening of the Mercedes me Store, we have been able to further strengthen our brand and target new customers. This year, we will continue the strong momentum and further expand our already great model line-up”.
E-Class and C-Class as the best-selling Mercedes-Benz models in Hong Kong
Since its launch, the E-Class has been very well-accepted by executives in both markets. In 2015, sales of the E-Class remained strong with 1,434 units delivered
in Hong Kong and 174 units in Macau. After its launch in 2014, the C-Class established a new benchmark in its segment. Last year, Mercedes-Benz has handed over 1,129 units (+144.3%) of C-Class to its customers in Hong Kong and 374 units (+228%) in Macau. At the same time, the worldwide unit sales of C-Class surpassed the prior-year number by 40.1% and reached 443,909 units. Growth in the C-Class segment will be further boosted in 2016 by the new C-Class Coupé.
S-Class once again the best-selling luxury saloon in the markets
In 2015, the S-Class was once again the best-selling luxury saloon globally. It was also the clear segment leader locally in Hong Kong and Macau with a total of 671
units, 82 of which were the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Ongoing successful path for new SUVs and compact cars With the launches of GLE & GLC and the success of GLA, Mercedes-Benz has achieved a great result in the SUV category in both Hong Kong and Macau.
The compact cars, comprising the A- and B-Class, the CLA, the CLA Shooting Brake and the GLA, achieved new best figures in 2015. In Hong Kong, a total of 2,363
customers decided in favour of Mercedes-Benz compact cars which is 12.8% more than in the previous year. And the compact models were also very popular globally
with more than 582,531 units sold in 2015, 25.8% more than in the previous year.
Record year for Mercedes-AMG
Mercedes-AMG had a record year in 2015 both worldwide and in Hong Kong. With 68,875 units sold globally, the sports-car and high-performance brand of
Mercedes-Benz reached a new peak last year globally. And Mercedes-AMG also broke its sales record in both Hong Kong and Macau with 450 units delivered
(+34.3%). This means that Mercedes-AMG’s unit sales have more than doubled in the past two years.
Great performance for Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles
After its launch last August, Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong has handed over more than 110 units of new Vito to customers. The success of the new Vito was a part of the 10.5% increment in Mercedes-Benz Van’s sales (463 units) in 2015. Last year, Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong sold a total of 640 units (+10.9%) of Mercedes-Benz vans, trucks and buses to local businesses in Hong Kong and Macau.
