Hong Kong resumes XRL long-haul services

The service resumption will begin in phases on 11 March.

The Hong Kong Government announced the resumption of the long-haul services of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Links’ (XRL) Hong Kong section. 

The service resumption follows coordination with relevant Mainland authorities and discussion with the China State Railway Group Co., the China Railway Guangzhou Group Company, and the MTR Corporation.

The service resumption will begin in phases, starting 11 March, where the services between the West Kowloon Station and the three other stations at Chaoshan, Shantou, and Zhaoqingdong will resume first.

The public can board long-haul trains to stations at Chaoyang, Foshanxi, Houmen, Huidong, Huizhounan, Kuitan, Lufeng, Puning, Sanshuinan, Shanwei, and Shenzhen Pingshan.

However, the first train of the day travelling from West Kowloon Station to Guangzhodong Station will not serve the Futian and Dongguan stations, reducing the journey time by more than 10 minutes.

Also, the departure time of the first train from Guangzhodong Station to West Kowloon Station will be advanced to 7:05 AM, moving the arrival time to 8:14 AM.

The long-haul service in XRL’s Hong Kong section will resume full service on 1 April, connecting the city to other destinations outside the Guangdong Province.
