Transport complaints jump 20% in 3Q 2010
The Transport Complaint Unit received 4,927 complaints and suggestions from July 1 to September last year.
The complaints are 19.8% more compared to the previous quarter and 4.8% more than the same quarter in 2009, the Hong Kong Information Services Department said.
Of the 4,927 complaints and suggestions received, 40 were pure suggestions while 84% were related to public transport services, 10% on enforcement and 4% on traffic conditions.
The number of cases on public transport services grew 22.7% from 3,372 in the previous quarter to 4,136 in this quarter. Complaints and suggestions on traffic conditions rose from 172 in the last quarter to 184 this quarter.
Cases relating to road maintenance fell from 73 in the last quarter to 60 this quarter. The number of complaints about illegal parking and other enforcement matters rose from 448 to 500.
All the complaints and suggestions received have been referred to relevant authorities and government departments for follo -up.
During the period under review, investigations into 4,167 cases were completed. Of these, 2,756 cases were found to be substantiated, 153 unsubstantiated, and the remaining 1,258 were not pursuable due to lack of information.
In the same quarter, government departments and organisations took on board 35 suggestions.
