CLP Holdings' local sales of electricity dipped 1%
Blame it on higher base last year.
According to a release, in the first quarter of 2013, local sales of electricity were 6,415GWh, representing a decrease of 1.0% over the same period last year.
The reduction was attributable to the higher base in the corresponding period of 2012 which had high humidity and included an extra day due to that being a leap year. With lower heating and dehumidifier load this spring, compared to last year, the Residential sector recorded a significant drop of 9.8% in the first quarter.
This wholly offset the moderate sales growth in the Commercial and Infrastructure & Public Services sectors. Sales to the Manufacturing sector also decreased by 5.7%
