41 gazetted beaches in Hong Kong pass water quality standards
It has been on a 100% passing rate for 3 consecutive years.
According to a report, Hong Kong's 41 gazetted beaches maintained full compliance with the Water Quality Objectives for bathing waters last year.
Releasing its 2012 report on beach water quality today, the Environmental Protection Department said 23 of the beaches were ranked as 'good', with the remaining 18 'fair', which complied with the objectives.
The results mean water quality at all of Hong Kong's gazetted beaches has met the standards required for bathing for three consecutive years.
The percentage of beaches complying with the objectives grew from 63% in 1997, to 100% in 2010, and this figure has been maintained since.
