Activities kicked off last 1 July.

In a report, a host of "Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign events will celebrate the 16th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland from July 1.

The Festival of 16th Anniversary Reunification Celebration and "Love Sharing" Kick-off Ceremony will be held at Southorn Playground, Chai Wan Park, Sheung Wan Cultural Plaza, Ap Lei Chau Estate and Hang Hau Sports Centre, where game booths, bargain sales booths, cultural performances and variety shows will be held.

Young people in Kowloon City District will celebrate the anniversary with soccer matches on July 6 and 7. Sixteen teams will compete for the Challengers' Cup and the Winners' Cup in the Kowloon City Invitational Youth Soccer Competition.

The launch ceremony of Hong Kong Ani-Com Summer 2013 will be held concurrently with the Comics & Animation Summer Carnival 2013 on July 6 at Victoria Park.

The carnival is a core programme of Hong Kong Ani-Com Summer 2013. Activities such as virtual reality shows, game booths, animation screenings, comic painting demonstrations and cosplay shows, plus live music will be held.

It will also display the shortlisted entries from the Mascot Design Competition and visitors can vote for their favourite designs. The winning mascot designs will be used in promotional materials for the "Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign.

On July 7, the Junior Chamber International Bauhinia will hold the 6th Beloved Knowledge, Share Together - Thousand People Reading Classic "Di Zi Gui".

Other activities include the Gala Concert of 2012/13 "School Care Subsidy Scheme" - Care & Concern Concerts to be held on July 6; the 10th Dance on Islands to be held on July 7; and Summer Arts for Families through July and August.
