Hong Kong emerged as the most searched outbound destination on DaoDao.com
Beating Singapore and other Asian peers.
A record number of mainland Chinese travellers this year visited DaoDao.com, China’s portal for the world’s largest travel website TripAdvisor, to research outbound destinations – and Hong Kong has generated the most interest.
In order of popularity, the next most viewed Top 10 outbound destinations leading up to China’s longest holiday were Bangkok, Macau, Taipei, Singapore, Phuket, Seoul, Boracay, Dubai and Bali.
In the period leading up to and during Chinese New Year, DaoDao recorded millions of page views researching Hong Kong, the most viewed shopping mall was newly-opened Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, followed by Times Square, DFS at the Hong Kong International Airport, Sogo in TST and Langham Place Shopping Mall. Chinese travelers also took a keen interest in the city’s famous restaurant scene.
In terms of accommodation, well-known 5-star hotels in Hong Kong, like The Langham, The Upper House, Langham Place, L’hotel Nina, and Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel were among the top viewed, along with 3 to 4 star favourites like Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, Novotel on Nathan Road and Holiday Inn Express Causeway Bay.
Hong Kong guest houses also trended among Chinese visitors with Hello HK in Tsim Tsa Tsui and Causeway Bay Inn among favourites alongside unique concept properties like the T hotel in Pokfulam.
