Arrivals crash 75% after nCov measures' implementation

Arrivals amongst locals led the decline as it dropped 77%.

The number of arrivals in Hong Kong have plummeted by 75%, following the government’s suspension of services in ten control points to contain the novel coronavirus (n-Cov) outbreak, Secretary for Security John Lee said in a press conference.

“We can see the arrival figures have been dropping. And on 5 February, the total number of people arriving in Hong Kong was 58,800 roughly. That is a drop of 75% compared with the figure before the introduction of the measures,” Lee stated.

Specifically, arrivals amongst locals led the decline as it dropped 77%. Mainland visitors followed at 68%, whilst international arrivals crashed 50%.

Amidst the nCov outbreak, the Government had introduced measures starting last 30 January to suspend the service of six control points. Four more control points followed on 4 February.
