HK expects 10.95mln holiday tourists
The busiest day at Lo Wu will be Dec 27 when 189,000 passengers.
The Immigration Department estimates 10.95 million passengers will pass through land, sea and air checkpoints during the Christmas-New Year holiday period, up 9% on last year.
About 3.96 million passengers, a daily average of 283,000, are expected to pass through Lo Wu control point from tomorrow to January 4. For inbound traffic, the busiest day at Lo Wu will be December 27 when 189,000 passengers will arrive. Outbound traffic will be heavy on Christmas Day with 195,000 people leaving Hong Kong, according to an Immigration Department report.
Passenger traffic at Lok Ma Chau control point will also be heavy, with a forecast of 1.4 million passengers - a daily average of 100,000. The busiest day will be Christmas Day, when both arrival and departure traffic will be very heavy.
