HKTB starts second round of “Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours”
It allows Hong Kongers to redeem free tours with $800-worth receipts from dining and retail outlets.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has started registration for the second round of the “Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours” programme with an increased quota of 20,000.
Starting last 24 May, Hong Kongers may collect machine-printed receipts, worth at least $800, from physical dining and retail outlets. This can then be used to redeem free tours.
“Given the enthusiastic response to the first round of the ‘Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours’ programme…, the HKTB is launching a new round with more quota to support the trade and keep the impetus for the city’s consumption atmosphere going, while warming up the trade in preparation for the return of visitors,” HKTB Executive Director Dane Cheng said.
The first tours are expected to start in early June.
The new round offers 190 different local tours with itineraries taking at least half a day.
All tours include guided tour services, transportation, one meal, basic insurance and at least two points of interest. Itineraries will be uploaded at the HKTB campaign website.
The HKTB noted all tour operators participating in the programme are required to register itineraries with the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong.
They will also be required to sign the “Anti-epidemic Undertakings for Local Tours” as well as record visits with the “Leave Home Safe” app.
The “Spend-to-Redeem Free Tours” Programme followed the launching of the “Staycation Delight” programme that allowed public to redeem hotel package discounts using $800 receipts.
