Hong Kong goes to Hokkaido
Delegation promotes advantages of Hong Kong to Hokkaido businessmen.
Sally Wong, the Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), talked about the advantages Hokkaido’s business sector can enjoy by expanding into the overseas market through Hong Kong.
She noted that Hong Kong enjoys a high degree of autonomy under the "One Country, Two Systems" arrangement and is committed to free trade and free markets, the rule of law and a level playing field.
"Our investment regime is highly liberal, and foreigners are welcome to set up or invest in businesses. Our economy remains vibrant, and our society open, cosmopolitan and free," she said.
She emphasized that Hong Kong remains a very safe, hospitable and welcoming place for investments from Japan and other countries. She encouraged Japanese businesses to capitalise on the advantages Hong Kong offers as the gateway to China, the rest of Asia and the world.
The business seminar was jointly organised by the North Pacific Bank, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hokkaido Japan Hong Kong Society.
