Hong Kong welcomed 36.03 milliom arrivals in 2010, up 21.8% over 2009.
According to the Hong Kong Services Information Department, Hong Kong Tourism Board said about 22.47 million of these arrivals were from Mainland, a 27% increase, while 8.72 million were short-haul arrivals, up 16.5%, and 4.84 million were long-haul, up 9.6%.
Board Chairman James Tien said the strong rebound in Hong Kong’s tourism in 2010 after the severe blow dealt by the financial turmoil and human swine flu a year earlier could be due to promotions such as the Wine & Dine Festival, and Central Government policies to facilitate individual visits.
