Hongkongers may now fly to Oman visa-free
The visa-free access will be allowed for visits lasting for 10 days.
Hong Kong passport holders may now visit Oman for up to 10 days without securing a visa, the SAR government has advised.
The Honorary Consulate of the Sultanate of Oman had notified the Hong Kong government that the visa-free access may be availed provided there is a confirmed hotel reservation, health insurance, and a return air ticket.
“Oman is along the Belt and Road. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, this visa-free arrangement will bring greater travel convenience to the travelers of Hong Kong after the epidemic and strengthen the tourism, cultural and economic ties between the two places,” a spokesman from the Immigration Department said.
The Hong Kong government had issued the Red Outbound Travel Alert on 17 March, which remains in force for all overseas countries and territories.
Under the current alert level, the government advised travelers to adjust travel plans and avoid non-essential travel outside the city as the COVID-19 situation across the globe remains uncertain.
Hong Kong passport holders have been granted visa-free access or visa-on-arrival by 168 countries or territories.
