Mainland residents granted extended 14-day business stay in HK
Application of the exit endorsement for talent to Beijing and Shanghai was also extended.
Mainland residents holding business visit exit endorsements can now extend their stays in Hong Kong to up to 14 days per visit starting 6 May.
Additionally, mainland authorities have extended the application of the exit endorsement for talent to Beijing and Shanghai, also effective 6 May.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government said these measures are expected to bolster talent exchange and promote the "southbound and northbound" two-way flow of talent, a key policy focus for both Mainland and Hong Kong authorities.
Mainland residents must obtain an exit endorsement for business visits, a requirement streamlined to meet business sector needs. Additionally, nationwide acceptance of exit endorsement applications is also expected to enhance convenience for Mainland business travelers, fostering increased exchanges with the local business community.
The talent exit endorsement, piloted in the Greater Bay Area since 20 February 2023, has seen over 18,000 arrivals recorded as of mid-April 2024. Expanding it to Beijing and Shanghai is expected to further attract Mainland talent to Hong Kong.
This development complements existing initiatives, including multiple entry visas for foreigners in Hong Kong-registered companies.
The government pledged to maintain close collaboration with Mainland authorities to promote talent connectivity and spur growth.
