Singapore eases restrictions for Hong Kong travellers

Travellers from Hong Kong can wait out their Stay Home Notices at their own residences.

Singapore has eased its travel restrictions for people from Hong Kong as the administrative region improved its response against COVID-19.

In a statement, the Singapore Ministry of Health declared that starting April 22, the Stay Home Notice (SHN) travellers from Hong Kong have to serve has been reduced to one week from the previous two.

"As the situation in Hong Kong has improved, we will reduce the SHN period from 14 days to 7 days which can be served at their place of residence if suitable. This will apply to travellers who have remained in Hong Kong in the last 14 consecutive days and who enter Singapore," the ministry said.

Travellers from Hong Kong would be subjected to two COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests: one upon arrival and another before the end of their 7-day SHN.

Prior to this announcement, travellers from Hong Kong had to serve a two-week SHN at a dedicated SHN facility.
