Tourism Board names new chairman
Peter Lam will assume post on April 1.
Peter Lam has been appointed Tourism Board Chairman, the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau announced today. His term runs from April 1 to March 31, 2016.
In a report, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So said Mr Lam, a veteran board member, is the person most suitable for the post given his commercial experience, strong leadership ability and active participation in public service.
Mr So also expressed gratitude to James Tien, who is retiring after six years as chairman.
"Even amid the uncertain global economy and competition from neighbouring destinations, Mr Tien has brought Hong Kong's tourism to new heights and strengthened Hong Kong's position as a premier tourist destination with his clear vision, sharp commercial sense, and strong leadership and competence," he said.
The bureau also announced the appointment of Ignatius Chan, a bank consultant, and Shi Nan-sun, a film production company executive director, to the board from April 1 to March 31, 2015.
