Visitor arrivals up 16.4%
Out of the 41.92 million arrivals, 28.1 million came from the Mainland.
The Information Services Department reported:
Provisional visitor arrivals to Hong Kong last year reached a new record of 41.92 million, 16.4% more than in 2010.
The Tourism Board announced 28.1 million of the arrivals came from the Mainland, up 23.9%.
Short-haul regions contributed 9.05 million, a 4.6% year-on-year increase. Among these, South Korea and Southeast Asia recorded growth of 14.7% and 9.3%, helping offset the 2.4% decline in Japanese arrivals.
Long-haul region arrivals grew 1.7% to 4.77 million.
Of the total Mainland arrivals, 52.7% or 14.8 million were same-day visitors, 34.5% more than in 2010. Overnight visitors also rose 13.9% year-on-year to 13.3 million.
