Visitor arrivals in June rise 14% YoY to 3.13 million

The MICE sector helped boost visitor arrivals.

Visitor arrivals in June reached 3.13 million, marking a 14% YoY increase, the Tourism Board announced.

The June figure boosted visitor arrivals in the city in the first half of the year to about 21 million, a 64% YoY uptick.

Overnight visitors accounted for 50% of all visitor arrivals during the period.

Meanwhile, the meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector was particularly vibrant, with the city receiving 700,000 attendees in H1.

The number of MICE travellers in H1 is about 80% of the 2018 figure, making it the city's fastest-recovering visitor segment.

Each overnight MICE visitor spent an average of $8,000 in the region, about 20% to 30% higher than the average per capita spend of all inbound overnight visitors.

MICE visitors stayed in town for 3.7 nights on average, higher than the average of 3.2 nights for all overnight visitors.

The government will hold more than 210 events throughout 2024 across various fields such as culture, art, and sports.
The government expects these events to attract approximately 1.7 million visitors to Hong Kong, generate $7.2b in consumption revenues, and add around $4.3b to the economy.
