What to expect in this year's StartmeupHK Salons
InvestHK will virtually hold the annual festival in six locations.
For its annual StartmeupHK Festival, InvestHK will be holding six virtual StartmeupHK Salons to be held in six worldwide locations from the end of April through until June.
The StartmeupHK Salon will kick off on 29 April in Singapore, catering to audiences from Southeast Asia. It will be followed by Brussels on 4 May, Toronto and San Francisco on 5 May, Shenzhen, China on 11 May, Mumbai on 3 June, and Santiago on 10 June.
“Our StartmeupHK Salons will give participants the opportunity to hear and discuss the latest global industry trends, identify new opportunities and get insights from global thought leaders who have adapted and innovated during these unprecedented times,” Stephen Phillips, Director General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, said.
The Salons will be customized according to the current business trends in each of the six locations and will include panels that will focus on four key areas.
One of these is the startup panel highlighting successful startups that set up business in Hong Kong or moved to the city for expansion. The panel will also talk about capturing opportunities amid the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.
The investor panel will run through the challenges faced by the venture capital community, whilst the corporate panel will zero-in on the growing impact of technology and the need to innovate and digitzalise.
Finally, members of the Greater Bay Area panel will outline growing opportunities in Hong Kong to access mainland China markets, amongst others.
“The StartmeupHK Salons will be a great way to understand what Hong Kong can mean to your business. We want to help large and small businesses take their next step in Asia – it’s where the action will be in the post-pandemic recovery,” Phillips said.
