Asia’s largest spring electronics fair attracts record turnout
Three international trade fairs, including Asia’s largest spring electronics show, opened and will continue through 16 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It features a wide range of green products, advanced technology and innovation.
More than 3,670 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions are on hand for the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair - Spring Edition, the HKTDC International ICT Expo and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), all organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The HKTDC has organised 175 buying missions and invited nearly 10,000 major importers, distributors and retailers from around the world to source at the three fairs. Among the buyers are big names such as Argentina’s System One SRL and Red Marquez SA; Li Qun Group and China Resources Vanguard from the Chinese mainland; Electro Land Co Ltd from South Korea; India’s Future group; NTUC Fairprice from Singapore; and Monster Cable from the United States.
HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau said Hong Kong’s exports of electronics, ICT and lighting products did well in 2010. “The three fairs will draw more than 100,000 visitors, and further expand export growth,” he said, adding that digital technology, mobile communications and innovative consumer electronics are likely to be among the most popular products in the fairs.
In response to market needs, the HKTDC has set up three new zones at the fair to feature smartphones and tablets, eAccessories and new products catering to elderly consumers. A series of seminars is also being held to explore the market potential of the items and discuss topics such as safety regulations and other product and market trends.
