Comba designed, installed and commissioned a customized 2G/3G solution to enable ubiquitous wireless coverage within the resort.
Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited , a leading wireless enhancement solutions provider announced the successful completion of a turnkey 2G/3G wireless enhancement solution at Macau's newest casino resort, the Galaxy Macau.
Comba's integrated multi-system and multi-operator wireless solution was delivered to its lead mobile operator customer in advance of the resort's grand opening on 15 May 2011. With a land area of over 550,000 m2, the Galaxy Macau is an integrated entertainment hub which includes over 2,200 hotel rooms, casinos, retail shops, entertainment venues, gardens and private beaches. Future facilities expansion includes a large club venue with theatre, bar and restaurant, and also a multiplex cinema. The resort expects to receive 30,000 to 40,000 visitors per day.
Working with the lead operator, Comba designed, installed and commissioned a customized 2G/3G solution to enable ubiquitous wireless coverage within the resort. In order to achieve an optimal balance between CAPEX and system scalability, Comba deployed a series of both active and passive distributed antenna systems (DAS) that leveraged on the operators' existing BTS and Node B signals for wireless coverage. The modular feature and system flexibility means that the solution is scalable to handle spikes in network traffic and is expandable to accommodate growth of the resort as new facilities open over time, according to a Comba report.
Mr. Leo Wong, General Manager for Comba's North Asia business said, "We are pleased and honored to be part of this landmark project. With Comba's solution in place, mobile operators are able to provide their customers with a consistent and sturdy wireless network for their mobile devices at the Galaxy Macau. "
Mr. Wong further added, "To ensure a smooth opening, Comba dispatched a technical team on-site to immediately troubleshoot problem during the Grand Opening. With 3,000 VIPs and over 20,000 visitors in the first 90 minutes after the doors opened, there was a corresponding surge in traffic on the system. We are delighted to report that, the network was able to accommodate the demand satisfactorily through working closely with the mobile operators - a testament to the robustness of Comba's solution."
