SIM Technology ships ODM Handsets to Japan
The move is the country’s first entry into the Japanese smart phone market.
SIM Technology Group Limited (“SIM Technology”), a leading mobile handset and wireless communication module solutions developer in the PRC, is pleased to announce the initial shipment of a 3G Android smart phone through our Japanese customer to the leading Japanese operator. This ODM handset is targeted to commence sales in Japan this week.
This ODM handset features a slim design weighting 115 gram with 3.2 inch display. The size and shape of the phone is tailored to fit comfortably in the hands of the Japanese consumers. Beside the standard Android 2.3.4 operating system, the handset also includes advanced user-friendly features like voice activated search, range sensor to control display on/off, and bar code scanning that are customized for the Japanese market.
By making steady progress in its business transition to a high value-added ODM, SIM Technology is committed to meet the uncompromising demand of tier one ODM customers for excellent quality and service so as to stay ahead of the competition. The Group is optimistic that the demand from Japanese market will become one of the key drivers for the Group’s future business growth, according to a SIM Technology report.
Mr Cho-Tung Wong, Executive Director of SIM Technology, concluded, “I am pleased to see the first shipment of our ODM handsets to Japan. This is a good starting point for us. The Group is going through a steep learning process. We have made many investments to improve our ability to service perhaps the customers and operators of the highest-standard. Although the benefit of this ODM project may be limited in the near term and we have to continue investing, the management believes it is the right strategic direction for the Group. We are confident that our new capabilities will be able to bring in more ODM projects of mid-to-high end handset segments and accompanying growth that were not previously available to us.”
