Google to set up data centre in Hong Kong

The Government of Hong Kong welcomed Google's announcement today to build a data centre in Hong Kong.

It believes that Google could leverage Hong Kong's competitive edge to further enhance its business in the region.

"Hong Kong is again chosen by a multinational enterprise for setting up data centre facilities. This reaffirms our status as the prime location for data centres in the region. We will continue to promote our competitive advantages to prospective data centre developers and operators, and encourage them to set up strategic data centres here," said Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Stephen Mak.

He noted that Hong Kong has significant advantages for developing as a regional data centre hub, including a favourable business environment, free flow of information, sound information technology infrastructure and reliable power supply.
